The ACT Veterans take on the Royal Australian Air Force “Mirages” for the Telstra Security / Akamai Charity Cup on Saturday 15 June. This game will be played at Portsea Oval, RMC. Kick off will be at 2pm.

The ACT Vets and the Mirages - so named because, like their namesake aircraft, their best (rugby) days were probably some years ago - have been playing this annual fixture since 2008.

Given this history, and the certainty that the final score will be a 9-all draw (a core rule of Veterans rugby), the game is sure to epitomise the best rugby traditions of sportsmanship, hospitality and giving back to the community.

“Once again, Air Force is looking forward to playing the ACT Vets in our annual Charity Cup game.

This game provides a fantastic opportunity for the ACT Vets and Air Force Rugby tragics to play Rugby Union in a social environment; increase the exposure of Rugby Union within the ACT community, the Air Force and the Australian Defence Force; to enable Air Force personnel to network with the local ACT community and sponsors; and most importantly, raise money for an outstanding charity – Legacy.

Air Force would like to thank the ACT Vets for their camaraderie over the past 11 years; and Telstra Security and Akamai for their generous sponsorship. Go Brumbies!”, RAAF Squadron Leader Matthew King stated.

This cup is jointly sponsored by Telstra Security and Akamai who work with a range of technology - and market-leading vendors to provide advanced and emerging technologies that solve real-world business challenges.

Neil Johnson from Telstra says “Both Telstra Security Solutions and our partner Akamai are proud to sponsor this worthwhile event facilitated by ACT Vets Rugby, in support of our Defence Veterans and their families”.

Thanks to the generosity of these sponsors, a donation of $4,000 will be made at the end of the match to Legacy Canberra.
