The ACTJRU and Safeguard Global ACT Brumbies are thrilled to announce the introduction of the Budding Brumbies – Get into Rugby Program proudly supported by Allhomes, which will kick off in Canberra in 2023.

The Get into Rugby Program provides a fun, safe, inclusive environment and a positive first experience for young participants and their families. Modified games and activities support participants’ understanding and development of fundamental rugby skills whilst fostering the confidence to play.

Delivered on Friday evenings across two central locations, the Budding Brumbies - Get into Rugby Program offers a more convenient, accessible, and enjoyable experience for young families eager to participate in rugby. It’s also tailored for girls and boys aged 5-8 starting their rugby journey.

Craig Leseberg, Safeguard Global ACT Brumbies Deputy CEO and General Manager of Community Rugby is excited by the joint initiative and is confident of the success amongst the community.

Mr Leseberg said: “This progressive program provides an enjoyable, safe, and welcoming environment for kids and parents to experience all that rugby has to offer.

“It’s also a great introduction for new players and families, providing the perfect stepping stone into junior clubs and competitions”.

“Being resourced by accomplished and qualified coaches, the focus is on developing essential skills, demonstrating fair play, and working together, while building confidence and making friends along the way.”

The ACTJRU is equally excited to be launching the program. ACTJRU Secretary Greg Baynham said: “It is wonderful to see a new initiative and program coming down from Rugby Australia and being driven here by Brumbies Rugby.

“This Program will allow us to regenerate and reinvigorate our U4 to U8 participation and support the long-term sustainability of our junior competitions and development of our players.”

The Budding Brumbies – Get into Rugby Program proudly supported by Allhomes will run across Term 2 and Term 3, including a four-week holiday break. Each session will run for 60 minutes and will be delivered by accredited coaches with support from the ACT Brumbies and Rugby Australia. The program will also see guest appearances from Brumbies male and female players and everyone’s favourite mascots, Brumby Jack and Brumby Jill.

Sessions will conclude with a barbeque dinner for participants and families, with all registered participants receiving a training shirt and hoodie.

Registrations for the Budding Brumbies – Get into Rugby Program proudly supported by Allhomes will open shortly, so keep an eye on the ACT Brumbies and ACTJRU socials for more information.
