The ACT Schoolboys squad has been named ahead of the 2026 Australian Schools Rugby Union Championships on the Sunshine Coast next month.

The 23-player squad features some of the brightest young rugby talent from across the ACT, with representatives selected from school and club programs throughout the region.

The squad will travel to Queensland in July to compete against the nation’s best schoolboy teams at the annual championships.

The knockout style tournament consists of two elimination matches before progressing to a finals series, providing players with the opportunity to test themselves against elite opposition from across Australia. The ACT side will be chasing the national title, looking to emulate the class of 2017, who claimed the championship for just the fourth time in the program's history.

Importantly, the Australian Schools Rugby Union Championships serve as the primary selection pathway for the Australian Schoolboys and Australian u18’s team, with national selectors closely monitoring performances throughout the week-long tournament.

ACT Schoolboys Head Coach Ben McGee said the selected squad had earned their opportunity through strong performances across the school and club rugby season.

"We're excited about the group we've assembled and the talent that exists across rugby in the ACT," Ben said.

"The players have worked hard throughout the year to put themselves in contention for selection, and this tournament provides them with a fantastic opportunity to represent the ACT on the national stage.

"Just as importantly, it's a chance for these young men to challenge themselves against the best players in the country and put their names forward for higher honours."

The ACT Schoolboys squad will train throughout June ahead of their departure to the Sunshine Coast in July.
