The ACT & SNSW Griffins didn't start their Challenge Cup campaign as they had hoped, but they are ready for redemption this weekend after falling to a Safeguard Global Brumbies XV side full of running 44 points to 7.

With the second and final edition of the Challenge Cup taking place this Saturday the 5th of October, the two sides will face off once again at 3:15PM at Viking Park to decide who takes home the silverware.

With an uphill battle ahead the Griffins would need to win and by a margin of more than 37 to win the trophy outright. Meanwhile the Brumbies side are undoubtedly looking to put on another dominant display and add to their highlight reel from the first match.

Despite the one-sided score tally the Griffins showed a handful of threatening passages that they will surely build on ahead of their next fixture.

Griffins assistant coach Sam Norton-Knight said: "We took a lot out of the game despite conceding 5 tries in the first half. Importantly, the team bounced back in the 2nd half and our team morale is really high."

"We had some challenges dealing with the defensive pressure the Brumbies put us under, but we showed great intent and had some positive moments with ball in hand."

"Our youngest player on the field, Jack Preston, really stood up physically and it's great to see us competing for long passages"

"There are players who have been around full-time programs before, Clay Uyen, Cullin Cooper-Jones and Nate Carroll, who have provided great leadership in our preparation and they were outstanding on Sunday as well."
