The ACT & SNSW Rugby Union and the ACT Junior Rugby Union continue to applaud TSA and ACT Vets Rugby for their continued support of our local competitions.

The Vet’s support of ACTJRU stems back to 2012, with the establishment of the George Gregan Cup and accompanying prize money for both the Grand Final winners and runners up in the Under 18’s Boys Championship Division.

This support continued to thrive with additional backing from TSA in 2015, growing across the years to establish the Louise Burrows Cup in 2019, for the Under 18’s Girls Championship Division.

This year, ACT Vets Rugby and TSA have again extended their generosity and are now sponsoring the Under 16’s Boys and Girls in their Championship honours; both matches contesting the inaugural Steve Larkham and Vikki Fischer Cups on Saturday 2 & Sunday 3 September at Viking Park.

With the Under 16’s winners receiving $900 and the runners up $600, as well as the Under 18’s winners being awarded $1250 and the runners up $750, these donations become some of the richest prize monies in junior rugby in Australia.

ACT Junior Rugby Union President Martin Sullivan said: “The ACTJRU are overwhelmed and thrilled with this ongoing support, providing trophies and prize money to the Under 18’s and Under 16’s Boys and Girls.

“We continue to applaud ACT Vets Rugby and TSA’s patronage to community Rugby, especially junior Rugby.

“This support allows us to continually expand our children’s programs by promoting and highlighting a positive image of Rugby and its participants in the Canberra community and its surrounds.”

This generosity extends to the Premier Colts Division, which was renamed the ACT Vets Colts Cup in 2022, alongside the purchase of a new perpetual trophy. This year’s championship was won by the Queanbeyan Whites on Saturday 26 August at Viking Park.

Safeguard Global ACT Brumbies Deputy CEO & General Manager Community Craig Leseberg said: “We are extremely grateful for ACT Vets Rugby’s support of our local junior and senior competitions, events and development programs more broadly.

“Their tireless support for grassroots rugby is all encompassing, ranging from valued financial donations and prizes to a much appreciated volunteer presence at numerous rugby events throughout the season. We are incredibly thankful for their endless and unwavering support”.
