Easts have won the first senior Grand Final for 2023 in a 22-12 win over Royal Military College in front of a spirited crowd at Griffith Oval.
Going toe to toe all season, only a single draw and two competition points separated the two (RMC 6 W, 3 D,1 L) (Easts 6 W, 2 D, 2 L), so it was anyone’s guess as to who would take home the chocolates.
In the Major Semi Final, Easts nudged RMC 12-10 to advance directly to the Grand Final, while RMC demonstrated their dominance in a 47-0 win over Uni-Norths in the Preliminary Final.
Two of Canberra’s original clubs, there was everything to play for, however, it was Eamonn Gillian’s precision kicking and penalty goal that put the game to bed.
Congratulations to Easts’ open side flanker Liam Doherty who was voted BentSpoke Brewing Co’s Player of the Match.
Easts defeat RMC 22 (3 T, 2 C, 1 P) to 12 (2 T, 1 C).
