As we approach Round 7 of the BentSpoke Premier 15s competition, we deep dive into each teams current form and how they are shaping up for the season.

This year has been exciting for the women's game already and it has proven to be a hard fought battle between all sides, The reigning premiers in the Tuggeranong Vi-Queens are off to a flying start once again, winning all games so far and leading the competition ladder by 5 points. Just ahead of the also undefeated Western District Lions who are trailing in second place after six weeks.

Tuggeranong Vi-Queens - #1

The Vi-Queens have soared to the top spot on the ladder after their dominating performances over the last five weeks, scoring 20 points or more in each matchup. Led by their captain Jade Bunn, The Vi-Queens have left a mark on the rest of the competition through their exciting attacking raids with leading try scorer Tijana Zdravevska (9) and leading points scorer Siena Edwards (62) both commanding the sides backline.

Western District Lionesses - #2

Missing out on the finals last year, the West's women have come back with a vengeance and have started the 2025 campaign undefeated; narrowly finding themselves behind the Vikings in second place on the ladder. This start to the year will surely give the side plenty of confidence to be in contention come finals time and compete for the trophy at the end of the season.

The Lionesses attack has been on full display through the first five rounds of the season as shown through the list of top try scorers in the Premier 15s Rugby competition. This has a lot to do with the help of Lily Bone and Jane Morrison who have been torching opposition defensive lines with their pure power. The Lions forward pack that has been the defining factor in the clubs success so far this year, putting in a big shift each weekend.

Gungahlin Eagles - #3

Gungahlin has been one of those clubs who have a great week one week then not such a great week the next, with 2 wins out of 5 matches they have played so far this year. A tough loss against Wests last week would not have helped their confidence going into Round 6 taking on a strong Vikings side who are currently undefeated.

Tilila Hifo has been a standout for the club so far this year, placing herself in the top point scorers list with 30 as well as the top try scorers with six tries under her belt.

Though sitting in third, the Eagles will be certainly a team to look out for as it's near impossible to leave them out of finals footy in the past.

Uni-Norths Owls - #4

After a brutal loss in last years Grand Final the Uni-Norths Owls have had a tough start to the year with only winning two games out of the five.

Whilst being one of the strongest teams in the competition traditionally, they have lost multiple recruits to the Wallaroos squad. Certainly an interesting case in 2025, the club will always be a threat come finals time and will be one to watch if they can come back and upset a Vikings side who beat them in last years big dance throughout this season.

Queanbeyan Whites - #5

Unfortunately the Queanbeyan side have struggled to the start the year off in the right way, but they d manage to stay in the fight, narrowly securing over the last placed Canberra Royals early in the year. Despite their less than ideal record at this stage, the side still finds a way to get on top occasionally, coming away with a 34-10 win over Gungahlin at Nicholls Enclosed.

Losalini Gale has been a steady force at hooker for the side but seemingly not enough to get the results they are after. Having to get on a roll to be a chance of August footy, the side in white will be hoping Round 7 against Royals will kickstart a new winning trend.

Canberra Royals - #6

A real question mark in the Premier 15s competition is the Canberra Royals. Though it's a slow build up to the start of the year for them, they have shown glimpses of what they can do on the field. With just one win in the bank but narrowly going down to Uni-Norths in Round 3 12-13 they are a hard team to count out.

Captain Ainsley Scrivener leaves it all on the park, as a constant threat on both sides of the ball. Certainly a side more then capable for an upset, the blue baggers shape as a team to keep one eye on from the back of the pack.
