SIRU is set for a heated finish as a 3-stage finals campaign begins this weekend, teams vying for crucial wins against old rivals.
Beginning with the Major Semi Final, 1st and 2nd will compete to earn a spot in the Grand Final, while the loser will take on the winner of the Minor Semi Final (3rd v 4th). These two teams battling it out for a second week to earn a spot in the big dance.
DevCore 1st Grade:
Following fierce competition all season, last weekend’s Round 14 clash saw WAC, Waratahs and Wagga City all come in with equal wins, a single point separating the top 2 and 3rd.
With Wagga City playing WAC, the winner of the match was guaranteed a spot in the Major, whilst the Waratahs headed to Tumut where a Bonus Point Win could secure them the Minor Premiership.
At Conolly Rugby Park, Wagga City triumphed 20-5 over WAC, while a dominant performance from halfback Joshua Gemmell hedged the Waratahs 36-15 over Tumut resulting in Waratahs (1st), Wagga City (2nd), WAC (3rd) and Tumut (4th).
It’s anyone’s guess who will take the win this weekend as the Waratahs and Wagga City have traded a win and a loss this season, while Tumut’s only win over the top 3 teams was against WAC in Round 1.
With Preliminary Finals being hosted by Tumut, the loser of the Major Semi (Waratahs v Wagga City) may come up against Tumut at home, conditions which will produce a cracking contest.

Macarthur Real Estate Agency Women’s Xs:
Griffith (1st) have been the team to beat all year, losing only one match all season when they faced the Waratahs in Round 10.
Waratahs (2nd) however, have had some mixed results, losing matches to Griffith once, and Reddies (3rd) twice this season, but will be confident as they host Griffith in the Major Semi, having ended their undefeated streak just 5 weeks earlier.
Reddies, who had a slow start to the season finish just 4 points above WAC, keeping the CSU rivalry strong as they battle it out in the Minor Semi.
WAC come in as the dark horse, with plenty of talent available, they can upset the best of teams and will fight to ensure Reddies can’t defend their 2022 Premiership.

2nd Grade:
Round 14 saw a three-way battle between Tumut (3rd), WAC (4th) and Griffith (5th), all teams facing different oppositions, however, the results would determine which two teams would make the top four.
At Jarrah Sportsground, Tumut beat Waratahs a convincing 43-10, while WAC lost to Wagga City 12-52 with a hattrick from Tyler Byrne.
A 27-24 win from Griffith against Reddies would result in early-favourites WAC falling out of finals contention leaving Wagga City (1st), Waratahs (2nd), Tumut (3rd) and Griffith (4th).

3rd Grade:
Hay have been dominant all season following their drop from 2nd Grade to 3rd Grade and hold the Minor Premiership heading into Finals after 8 wins and only 1 loss.
However, Wagga City (2nd) will bring the fire, the team having only lost 2 matches, one of which was against Hay in Round 10.
In the Minor Semi Final WAC (3rd) will host Griffith (4th) which is sure to be an exciting encounter as both teams have had mixed results against each other this season, including a narrow 4 point win to WAC in their last encounter.
