Following ACT and Southern NSW senior rugby's successful Grand Final day at Viking Park squads have been named for the Capital Cup (City vs Country) next Saturday, 9 September in Batemans Bay.

Hanging Rock Sports Ground, Batemans Bay will host what should be a brilliant day of rugby in the Brumbies heartland bringing together Canberra and the regions as well as the ACT Brumbies U19 squad.

City vs Country is a vital part of the Brumbies Representative Program, the best of the ACT and Southern NSW taking the field to compete for places in the ACT and Southern NSW Griffins (Mens) and Kestrels (Womens).

The best of the BentSpoke John I Dent Cup have been divided into North and South sides, with the standouts from the BentSpoke Premier 15s competition coming together to form the Brumbies City Women’s group.

ACT Brumbies Representative Program Manager, Tony Abel said: “It’s exciting to unveil our City squads having named our Country squads after what was a successful Brumbies Provincial Championships in June.”

“Coaches have watched on closely this season and we feel the most-deserving talent from our local competition will be in Batemans Bay next Saturday.

“From there the Kestrels will be to take on a President’s XV, and the Griffins will take on the ACT Brumbies U19 at Brumbies HQ in Canberra on the 16th of September, before they head to Ballymore in Brisbane to compete in the Australian Rugby Shield.

“On behalf of everyone in the ACT and Southern NSW Rugby community, I’d like to thank the Batemans Bay Boars rugby club and community for hosting this year’s competition.”
