Welcome back to the boardroom for Episode 14 of The Chargedown. Mat Vowles and Jack Wunsch return to the studio, and this week they are hosting one of the absolute nicest guys in Canberra rugby: Wests Lions starting scrum-half Luke Wyche.
"Wychie" opens up about his rise through the ranks at Jamison. Having only taken up rugby union seriously three years ago, the young back made his first-grade debut in 2025 and has transformed into a key leader for the Lions, sliding into the starting number nine jersey this season.
Off the pitch, Luke chats about balancing first-grade footy with his paramedicine studies, and his hopes to stay in the capital long-term after graduating. Plus, the boys run into an unprecedented dilemma: for the first time in Chargedown history, they could not find a single piece of dirt or a scandalous rumour on a guest because Wychie is just that much of a top-tier bloke.
In this episode:
- The Rapid Rise: Luke Wyche on going from a rugby novice three years ago to starting first-grade halfback.
- Future Paramedic: Balancing shift work, university studies, and first-grade rugby.
- Clean Record: Mat and Jack try (and fail) to find any room for a classic Chargedown stitch-up.
