Last weekend saw U14-U18 girls and boys teams converge on the Ulladulla Sports Complex for the annual South Coast 7s competition.

Gathering from across the ACT, Southern NSW, Sydney and the South Coast, teams flocked to the Shoalhaven region for two days of action-packed, high-scoring rugby 7s.

The tournament saw new participants NSW Fijian Rugby take the crown in the U16 and U18 Boys Division, and the Wollongong Hornets dominate in the U14 Girls Division.

South Coast 7s ACT Brumbies Tournament Director Josh Riley said: “It was a fantastic weekend of 7s rugby. There was plenty of talent on display with more than 300 tries being scored across the 2 days.

“This tournament was a great way for players to prepare for the junior rugby season ahead, working on their skills and most importantly having some preseason fun with their mates”.

“A big thank you to all the parents, coaches and players who journeyed from near and far to participate, the competition wouldn’t be what it is without all of you making the time and effort to be a part of it.

“Also, to the ACT Rugby Referees Association who officiated 50 matches across the weekend in the sun and heat.

“Our appreciation to Shoalhaven City Council for their ongoing support in tournament preparation and providing outstanding playing facilities for the weekend. We couldn’t have asked for better conditions.”
