Wests search for new head coach ahead of 2022 season

Wests Rugby is looking for Expressions of Interest for a Head Coach to take responsibility for the overall performance of Wests Rugby Men’s and women’s senior grade program in 2022.

Expressions of interests accompanied with a suitable rugby curriculum vitae (CV) are to be submitted torichard.wyche@cgs.act.edu.au by COB Friday 8 October 2021.

Duties will include:

·The design, implementation and management of the overall performance of the First-Grade program

·Leading Wests’ playing and coaching philosophy by providing leadership and direction to management and players

·Making significant contributions to the culture and long-term development of Wests Rugby Club

·Providing technical and tactical coaching to individual players and the team as a whole.

·Co-ordinating the implementation of the Club’s “agreed playing philosophy” throughout all teams.

·Ensure all players receive clear, honest feedback and appraisal of their performance.

·Maintain and communicate a transparent selection policy.

·Maintain Club standards consistent with the values of the game in consultation with the Team Managers, players and support volunteers.

·Encourage the sharing of best practice between coaches at different levels.

·Establish the needs of club coaches and direct them to relevant courses and continuing professional development.

·Working with Committee members and the Director of Rugby Operations to develop strategies across several areas to target specific players and support the overall increase in the recruitment of players.

·Working with Brumbies Rugby as required to develop individual players for the betterment of ACT Rugby.

Our ideal candidate has:

·2-5 years of coaching experience at a similarly high level

·Great leadership and communication skills

·A proven record of working with multiple stakeholders including players, coaches and support staff

·A genuine passion for developing players and staff alike

·World Rugby Coaching Accreditation

About us:

The mighty force which is the Western District Rugby Union Football Club started with humble beginnings when, on the 13th March 1962, the Lyneham Rugby Union Football Club was formed. Since that time, Wests have produced numerous Brumbies, Australian Sevens Players and Wallabies. The club has over 130 registered players in 2021, competing in the Canberra Premier Competitions. Wests fields six teams, including a Colts and Women’s Team.
