The Bentspoke John I Dent Cup will launch into its 86th season on the 6th of April with ACT and SNSW Rugby Union finalising their premier 1st grade draw for 2024.
The coming season will spark a return to a six team format following the Penrith Emus departure at the conclusion of the 2023 season.
Each Premier Rugby club will have the opportunity to face each of their rivals on three occasions before trying to claim the silverware when finals begin. The John I Dent Cup will boast a 15 round season, in addition to 3 weeks of finals which will conclude at the end of August.
The Gungahlin Eagles will kick off their championship defence in a blockbuster home fixture where they will take on 2023 semi-finalists in the Canberra Royals at Nicholls Enclosed oval.
The Grand Final rematch will take place in Round Four as the Tuggeranong Vikings will head into enemy territory in Gungahlin as they aim to redeem their loss in 2023’s big dance with the Eagles.
In round 6 the competition will be played under lights across the Thursday and Friday to support the Brumbies in their mid-afternoon match against the Crusaders on Saturday.
Meanwhile in the Women’s Premier 15s, the defending champions the Uni-North Owls will get an intense start to the season against their 2023 Grand Final opponents in the Tuggeranong Vi-Queens at ANU North Oval.
Eager to get another taste of the Premier 15s the Queanbeyan Whites will be making their return to the competition after an early exit in 2023.
The Women’s competition will battle it out in a 15 Round season of their own in 2024, reflecting the length of the John I Dent Cup.
